Dr. Prakash Tyagi is the Executive Director of GRAVIS and Founder-Director of GRAVIS Hospital in India. He has studied Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He has also been a Fulbright-Humphrey fellow at the School of Global Health at UNC-Chapel Hill, a recipient of Ford Fellowship and a Fleishman Fellow for the study of public policy at Duke University. He has been leading GRAVIS for the last 12 years. GRAVIS works extensively in the Thar Desert of India with key focuses on water security, food security and community health. GRAVIS reaches out to about 1.3 million people living in poverty with its work and has helped formation of over 3,000 Community Based Organizations. He also leads a 70-bed rural hospital which is an important medical center. Prakash is an active global health practitioner and has contributed significantly in the fields of maternal and child health, geriatrics, HIV, TB and occupational health through his writing, research and field work.
