Ariane Umuringa is a Rwandan social entrepreneur and cofounder at Starlight, a social enterprise that aims to end the use of kerosene lamps in rural villages and refugee camps by providing solar-powered lanterns to these communities and by rolling out a STEM program that empowers female students in driving this change. Her educational background includes Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. She is the country Ambassador at Youth Opportunities. Youth Opportunities is the largest discovery platform for youth across the world with a vision of ensuring free and equal access to opportunities for all. She is passionate about green technology and her greatest passion is creating social innovative solutions that tackle climate change issues, affordable access to clean energy and women’s issues. She hopes that one day, she can witness a completely world with access to electricity as a basic human right.
