Seyron Foo is the Director of Public Policy and Government Relations at Southern California Grantmakers (SCG). He develops and implements efforts to create a well-connected network of grantmakers and public officials in order to strengthen communities and advance the public policy goals of SCG’s member organizations and Philanthropy California. Additionally, he is responsible for educating and informing policymakers about philanthropic efforts and identifies opportunities to convene grantmakers and government to tackle the state’s most pressing social issues. Prior to SCG, he has held several roles in federal, state, and local government. At the City of Long Beach, he managed citywide capital projects and led the Public Works Department’s press and community relations efforts. As a legislative aide in the California State Senate, he managed a portfolio that included civil rights, transportation, and housing. His work led to the successful passage of legislation in health, tenants’ rights, and banking reforms. In his civic life, Seyron is a gubernatorial appointee to the California Board of Psychology, where he serves as Vice President of the board. He earned his Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School and his Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
